I LOVE the dramatic Black and whites! LOVE them!! So this week I had a ROUGH time picking which one to use! And they were all 5 so different!
According to Amy and Angie, “We are looking for B&W photos that are dramatic, sensational and/or moody in the way they are presented. Please don’t just enter a typical portrait photo that has been converted to B&W. Something about your entry must catch our eye as being dramatic or moody for it to be passed along to the Guest Photographer Judge as a top entry for them to choose from.”
But, in the end, what can be MORE dramatic than a teenager? I mean really….let’s be honest.
I was so lucky to be asked to do these pictures for a teen pagaent, and she needed a “dramatic black and white”. This young lady was GORGEOUS!
(edited to add: just for fun, I thought I’d post my rejects for this contest LOL)

She is beautiful, love it in B&W.
GORGEOUS!!! both the girl and the photo!!
so dramatic… love it!
yep, the crop was just what it needed. PERFECT! :<) (and the drama was all in the last five minutes…. heh).
Awesome picture! Love the feel of the photo.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
What?! She’s a teenager?! Absolutely gorgeous and oh how I desire for the clarity in a photo that only a DSLR can give. Beautiful b&w. You captured her essence.
And by the way- you announced to me that I was on the favorites list last week. I was so excited when I saw your email! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am totally mentioning you in my True Story Tuesday this week. Because of course I’m going to milk my “winning” to its fullest.
She is gorgeous but you captured an amazing photo of her! I love how contrasty it is, very dramatic!
Thank you so much Dana, I really do respect your opinion. I always am checking to see your latest work and wanna grow up to be just like you.
I love your photo here. Her eyes are gorgeous!
Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for the wonderful comments on my photo, but yours is so much better. (I am still an amateur!)
God Lord girl, you know how to bring it.
You captured the perfect dramatic expression and edited it perfectly.
It looks glamorous and edgy and exactly like the contest rules!
BEEEYOOOOTIFUL!
She is stunning and the head shot is absolutely gorgeous! Her expression, the lace on her top… somehow the B&W brings out the drama in these two elements perfectly.
What a stunnig woman and a beautiful capture.
yep she’s gorgeous, as is your photo
beautiful work!
Beautiful photo and I love the teenager comment…both are perfect!
Gorgeous shot! The girl is beautiful and the black and white looks so great on this photo! Good job!
She is beautiful. This is an absolutely stunning picture.
This is a beautiful photo and it IS very dramatic
I struggled with the brief this week as many of my ‘dramatic B&W’s’ ARE converted portraits and what, at the end of the day, is a ‘typical’ portrait? I got my head in a spin and opted for a photo that is definitely not my favourite/best/loveliest just so I could stick with the requirements ~ which irritates me slightly if I’m honest!
What is it about this photo that makes it ‘atypical’? That is not a criticism because the photo is AWESOME, but a real question. What made you enter this photo as opposed to another? Sure it is dramatic ~ an awesome dramatic B&W conversion, but what makes it atypical? I hope you will respond to this as, like I said, the brief has really got me in a spin this week!
I think I ultimately chose this photo because it IS so dramatic! I don’t think it’s just a “converted portrait” because there was no other portrait….make sense? This was the one and only version of this photo.
I went back and forth a lot because I knew this photo was dramatic, but was it just a converted portrait? That was my struggle I think. But, I just kept coming back to this one because the draw to her eyes. I’m going to blog my reject photos for this week too, so then you can see why I struggled so badly! LOL
That’d be great
Thanks for answering and I’m glad I wasn’t the only one struggling! My rejects this week were way better than my entry, but they were ‘just conversions’ so out they went. My entry is a conversion too, but it’s not exactly a portrait!
Beautiful shot! The young lady has beautiful dramatic eyes. Love the edit. ~Diana
So I think that they are all dramatic.. I could not choose… You rock this category!!!
Just beautiful.
Gorgeous!
What a gorgeous photo!
Awesome, as always….
She is so very beautiful!! I just love this photo. Great job
Ok funny story. I really am not meaning to stalk you, I swear. I decided to go through and comment on any photo in the contest with a nine in it and guess who is entry 29 lol ? I love the photo, she is beautiful. Great lighting, love the eyes!
She is a beautiful girl and those eyes are so dramatic.
Gorgeous portrait!!! Perflect lighting and gorgeous eyes. Love it!
… also LOVE your first “reject” for this weeks theme. ADORABLE!!
Perfection! This is a really amazing picture! I love it!!!
I really like this shot. There’s so much texture! Her eyes draw you in, but there’s so much more to see here. Lovely!
