This Saturday, CNN is telling the story of Haiti’s children before, during and after the earthquake, seen through their eyes and the eyes of the American Christian Missionaries there to help. The program is hosted by Soledad O’Brien with Wyclef Jean offering a song as well as voice-overs of the Creole translations.
I must confess, I don’t regularly watch CNN, but this story intrigues me. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and loss these children have suffered, but it gives my heart tremendous joy to know that God, even in the midst of this tragedy, is being glorified through these Christian missionaries! The orphanage they are featuring is called maison de lumiere, or The Lighthouse. Those who are regular readers of my blog, know my passion and love for children, especially the orphan, and my deep desire to GO, so this story is very close to my heart!
Wait…
Lord, I love my daily job, I really do. (OK, I’m fibbing a little, I don’t love it, but it pays the bills). But can You maybe work it out, so that I don’t have to work a daily-grind kind of job, still pay ALL my bills, and go on Missions instead? Please? I’ll go anywhere You tell me to go. And it might be really kind of nice if I could pick up one…or two…..OK, maybe 3……of these orphans along the way? Alright, possibly 4, but I promise to take GOOD care of them! In Jesus name….
I just thought there would be others out there as crazy in love with the orphans as I am who may be interested in catching this show! It airs Saturday, May 8 at 8 p.m. ET.

You have the sweetest heart. Thank you for sharing this. I would have never known about it.
Thanks so much for posting this. I set it to record on my DVR.

I am right there with you. Eagerly counting the minutes, the hours until God finally says, “ok, now you can go.” Our dream is to split time there & in the States. I cannot wait to be able to hold & love on those sweet babies. I will be watching that show, for sure!
Thank you for the heads-up! I will try to remember to watch it (although my menopause-brain often forgets important things–ugh). Love your heart for orphans and missions–and wish I could go on mission trips, too. I have had the privilege of adopting–so no complaints there.
